The Surrounding Area

Strawberry House is within easy reach of Harrogate, York, Grassington, the cathederal city of Ripon, Knaresborough, Ripley, and of course the Yorkshire Dales. This great location makes us an ideal base for a walking, cycling or sight-seeing holiday in the North of England.

Our local town, Pateley Bridge, is located in the heart of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is the focal point of the Nidderdale Way — a fifty–three mile long circular walk. The town has a variety of restaurants including Italian, Indian and English, as well as tea rooms and traditional pubs. The dale is also home to some outstanding pubs, including the riverside Sportsman's Arms and the Michelin-starred Yorke Arms.

Other local attractions include antique shops, horse riding and the Nidderdale Museum of rural life. The town is also home to the oldest sweet shop in England — for those with a sweet tooth!
